Hi! I'm Angelika, a 24-year-old animal lover from Austria. For now, I'm moving mostly between Barcelona and Berlin and therefore have limited capacity – I'll be available in Berlin again during summer.

I grew up with pets (dogs, cats, bunnies) and have been pet sitting since 2018 after moving to Vienna for my studies. I also used to step in for a friend of mine who's a full-time cat sitter when she needed replacement and have provided foster care for pets. Leaving my pets behind with my parents was hard – I've considered adopting pets, but as I will continue to travel regularly I feel like it would not be a sensible decision at that point. Pet sitting feels like the perfect balance. During my travels in 2021 I started doing house sitting abroad which I've been doing basically non-stop since and I've had wonderful experiences with.

I can understand that the thought of handing over the responsibilities for one's pets (and home) can feel discomforting. As a rather sensitive and responsible person myself, I can see how it might lead to anxious thoughts. I always try my best to make the experience easy by sending frequent updates with photos & videos. 

I have experience with shy, traumatized, special needs pets (eg. blind, post-surgery care), giving medicine, nail cutting and brushing teeth. I am aware of how important it is to not cross boundaries and instead let the pet decide when or if they are ready to be affectionate.

Please inform me in case your pet has an illness or allergy, needs special care, has behaviors I should look out for or any areas it might have issues in, e.g. when it comes to your dog interacting with other dogs etc. just so that I'm prepared in case a difficult situation arises. Please feel free to let me know what a usual day looks like for your pet, what's your pet's favourite activities, toys, games etc. so that I can adapt and meet your pet's needs! I will do my best to make your pet feel comfortable despite a new person being with them. I love and look after anyone's animals just as my own and enjoy caring for them. As for house sitting: When I started doing house sitting, pet care became a much more intense experience (in a purely positive way) and I totally fell in love with the concept. It generally is a possibility to build a strong connection with the animal quicker and obviously I love living with pets. I got used to changing places a lot due to my travels and lifestyle, and I feel very happy doing so – not only travelling from one city or place to another, but also getting to know the city from various parts. I am organized and value cleanliness. If you're making a request, I would kindly ask you to add a photo of the living space. Please understand, I am not picky about this, but I appreciate a tidy space. I treat your home like mine, have a high sense of responsibility and respect your rules.

For house sitting: How long can your pet be left alone? Are there cameras in the bedroom? Any plants I need to take care of? If so, please provide me with the care instructions :) Is anyone else going to be coming on site? Do you expect any important deliveries/mail I need to be home for? What time are you expected to return? What would you like me to do with the bed sheets at the end of my stay? Anything else I should be aware of? Eg. house quirks

Dog breeds I have experience with include: Basset, Husky, Pomsky, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Whippet, Irish Wheaten Terrier, Maltese, Xoloitzcuintli, Bouvier de Flandes, Miniature Pinscher, Yorkshire Terrier, Norwich Terrier, Podenco, Pug, Icelandic Sheepdog, German Spitz, Border Collie, Poodle and some mixed ones who often were rescue dogs – some of them rather shy ones, depending on their back story
